Chicago, IL (June 5, 2007) -- Potbelly Sandwich Works is pleased to announce it has been named to Crain's Fast Fifty, a list of fastest growing companies by five year revenue growth in the Chicago area. According to Crain’s Chicago Business, June 4 edition, Potbelly ranks number eight with a 1,056% revenue growth in the last five years.
Potbelly began in 1977 as a small antique store and over the years, Potbelly customers have become fans who spread the word about its awesome oven-toasted sandwiches. The great food, live local music, nice, friendly people, and fun, energetic atmosphere make Potbelly “a first class dive.”
“While Potbelly continues to grow in size, we maintain the same values we did when we had only one store,” said Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Bryant Keil. “We focus on providing great sandwiches in an interesting and fun environment. We treat each new store as if it was the only one.”
In every Potbelly restaurant, every piece of furniture and every picture on the wall has been hand-selected for that particular store. Local musicians from each city enhance the entire Potbelly experience. The live music and unique décor serve as the perfect backdrop for customers to feast on hot and tasty Potbelly sandwiches and other great stuff.
Currently, there are more than 150 Potbelly stores located in Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, Minnesota, Ohio, Texas, Virginia, Washington DC, and Wisconsin. This summer Potbelly will open two stores in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The company employs approximately 3,700 people and has opened an average of 25 stores each year for the last five years.
